Episode five is an interview with Stephen Goacher.  Goacher is a woodwindist and profession performer/educator.  Currently he is the woodwind and jazz professor at Howard Payne University and conducts the Jazz Ensemble as well as university group Winds of Triumph, recently a featured at the 2012 Olympic games.  Mr. Goacher is also active as a saxophonist with the Temple Jazz Orchestra.

A student of Eugene Rousseau, Mitchell Lurie, and Gary Gray, Goacher has a long career as an instrumentalist including performances with The Temptations, Rosemary Clooney, Julie Andrews, and Bob Hope.  In this podcast he discusses his history as a musician and the traits that make a profession musician successful.

Free Music Ed Podcast - Episode 1

Today we are issuing the very first freemusiced.org podcast.  This is an exciting project.

We have recorded the first several episodes and will be releasing them every Tuesday.  We have some guest lined up and quite a few topics to cover.  Guest will include profession musicians and music educators of various levels and backgrounds.

This podcast is designed to cover all sorts of musical territory for anyone from beginners to professional musicians.

This first episode ask and answers the questions "What are some reasons to learn to play a musician instrument?" As we'll as, "How do I decide what instrument to play?"  This is part of a three episode series that discusses basic concepts central to learning about music.

Joining me for these podcast is bassist, trombonist, and musicial instrument repair man- Gannon Phillips.
